Thoughts
Bad Veins was recently signed to Dangerbird Records. One of the heads of the label has a son who has been battling cancer. I've been reading his blog for quite some time, even before Bad Veins considered signing with them and today Pablo was having major surgery. He seems to be an amazing kid with an amazing family so keep them all in your thoughts and hope for the best. They remind me of how important the simple things are in life. They remind me to slow down and look around.

BYOProject Day #2
Check out the second art/craft day! I'm wanting to get more people out but I think the small gathering is good so far. Here's what happened.
This is Julie, she is an awesome illustrator and she is also part of Project Mill. They came to work on their next DMF give away.
Kara was working on a birthday gift for her twin nieces. I will not spoil the surprise here in case they are big fans of the BP
Kim on the right was working on an awesome new quilt and Brooke was working on knitting some socks halfassed. I think she only picked up the needles for this photo opportunity.
This was my work station. I was working on a new 4x6 painting.

The Sun
Today is the type of day where you can't help but feel good because
the weather is so perfect. I tried to take a picture of the sun.
Weird huh?

Lightning Love
I've been listening to this band a TON. They are called Lightning Love and they will be playing on Saturday at the Northside Tavern here in Cincinnati. If you are in the area you should check them out or you can check them out here. The music is so catchy, you'll find yourself humming it after one listen. I also really like their album art.

Favorite Artists
I've been listening to the new Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs record tonight and painting but I'm feeling a little too tired to finish the painting so I wanted to share few of my favorite artist before I relax on the couch and watch a movie. These are in no particular order and there are many more to share. I was looking at their work tonight on the internet and I was thinking about the time my sister related my love of art to her love of Nascar racing. I love her very very much but it's not quite the same at all. Look.
1. Hung Liu. I saw an exhibit of hers in Kansas City when I was maybe eighteen or nineteen. I remember being emotionally overwhelmed by her paintings. The paint drips down the canvas like tears.
2. Henry Darger. I first heard about him when I was in college. He was never know during his lifetime to be an artist much less a famous artist but his landlord found his life time of work either shortly before he died or shortly there after. His work is often disturbing but it's amazing. He often used images from magazines likely tracing them. I love the idea of making art and never showing anyone. I think a lot of people make art and music for the wrong reasons; Henry Darger seemed to need to make art. He didn't care if anyone saw it.
3. Paula Rego. I don't have much to say about her. I don't really remember seeing her work for the first time. I think maybe someone in one of my classes was obsessed with her and I came to love her images and use of color.
I'm pretty sure there are some copy right issues with me putting these on my site but who's looking?

Music
I've had a nice evening at home listening to records to get ready for
my dj set on Saturday. I ended up some how going from happy dance
music to sad awesome music. I blame the rain. I enjoyed all of it.

I Did It
I was determined to go to yoga today after eating too many cheesy
puffs but the day was too pretty to spend inside. I decided a bike
ride to the record store would be more pleasant but my tire was flat
so I decided to over come my fear of walking. I haven't been on a
walk alone since I was mugged on October. The walk was nice but I
must have looked behind me a million times. I made it there safe and
sound. I see more walks in my future. I was mugged in this very spot.
