Self-Portrait #190

Pastel pencil. I have so many neglected art supplies. I didn't even know I had a set of pastel pencils until today. Two years of working at an art supply store in college will do that to you. I was poorer then poor and I took home every broken pencil, charcoal stick or wrinkled piece of paper that I could.

Self-Portrait #189

I scanned my head. I've been having motivational issues lately so I'm going to try and force myself to do some projects this week. I've got to work through this. I think part of the problem is that I can feel fall coming which is great, I love fall but that means winter is close by and that is a mountain that I'm not ready to climb. One project tonight was to back a chicken casserole. I've never made one of those before and I'm trying to be a little more responsible with my money. It could result in eating dinner out after all.

It's funny how different each drawing can look. I may never figure out what I look like.

If I Had $50 Million...and a little extra to live on...

The Archive from Sean Dunne on Vimeo. ...I would spend the rest of my life listening to the entire collection. This video totally just made me cry. I admire his love.

Self-Portrait #180.

I've also been wanting to share this photo from a walk a few days ago. I haven't gone on this route in a while. I took this picture several months ago. This figure grew a skirt!

Now the reasons why I'm an awesome girlfriend.

#1
Unconditional love.

#2
Sweet ass guitar.

That's all I could come up with for now.

Self-Portrait #176

I was very kind to myself in this picture. I've been using a lot of light blue lately. I'm over compensating for my tendency to over use red and green...you should see my house.

Self-Portrait #172

I hate this piece of hair. I've been sitting at my drafting table trying to get motivated to draw but this piece of hair keeps irritating me and I just want to lay down. This picture sort of creeps me out.
Today was my friend Erin's birthday. I made her a cd that featured yesterdays self portrait and a cloud stamp that I carved.

In May I went to Rock Island, Illinois to the Daytrotter studio with Bad Veins. They recorded four stripped down versions of their songs there that were posted today on the Daytrotter Site. It's refreshing to hear the songs in a different light. They have illustrations of each artist featured which I think is really cool.

Self-Portrait #170

The weather these last few days has been so great. I was pretty tired from staying up way past my bedtime for the Bad Veins show last night but I made myself go for my evening walk anyways because I'm already feeling winter threatening to move in. I love these warm days and my evening walks. There are so many cute yards with beautiful flowers and lazy cats laying on front porches. Summer seems so short and winter seems SO long.

I passed these great flowers today. I go on nearly the same route everyday but these seemed to appear out of the blue today.
I tried to take a picture of some flowers growing out of the sidewalk but my camera on my phone did something crazy and it turned into this.

We Are Scientists

@Southgate. I kept refering to them as They Might Be Scientists at
one point because I'm a grandma.

Self-Portrait #169

Today was been a perfect day so far. The weather is perfect, our windows are open, and I got the chance to sit outside and draw this little drawing until the mosquitoes started eating me alive. We almost went to see a movie earlier but once we got outside we realized that would be a waste of a day like this.

Self-Portrait #165

Only 200 more portraits to go. This image came to mind the other night when I was trying to fall asleep. I like the idea of making paintings where you can't really see what else is going on outside of the picture frame so the viewers mind has to imagine the rest of the story and image. It was sparked by running out of room for the balloon in self-portrait #157. I'm feeling a new series coming on.

I've recently added a label cloud to my blog layout. I'd been admiring the cloud label that Floresita has so I did a little internet research and figured out how to add it. It was actually pretty easy once I found the right tutorial. I felt like such a wizard when it worked. I like visiting blogs that have things in categories so I can see all of one type of project. I hope my 9 blog readers enjoy this new feature.

Block Party!!!!! I love my neighborhood and my neighbors. Here's Ben playing some sweet tunes.
It was a great day to have a party because it also felt like everyone was celebrating, along with me, the ending of summer camp. I've been on call all summer and now I can leave the room with out taking my phone with me. It's very liberating.
