No Cincinnati Craft Mafia (sad face)

What could we do about that? Calling all Cincinnati crafters. I WANT MY OWN CRAFT MAFIA!!!!!!!!! Who's in? I can't really see myself being able to commit a lot of time to this until the end of summer but I'd like to try to organize some crafty peeps in the next year and see who's up for a challenge.

Self-Portrait # 122

I had grand plans of drawing a self-portrait tonight but I had to
bring home some work. Ugh...budgets. There is an old school painting
I did 5 years ago featured in this photo.

No boogers. I'm sitting outside enjoying the smell of rain.

$35 Yard Sale Find

Now all I need is cocktail table PAC MAN. It wouldn't fit in my car so Matt and I had to carry it a few blocks and that sucked. It's living at his house for now. Ben and I don't really have room for it but I'm trying to convince Ben to get rid of the kitchen table.

Front porch. I love it. I've been feeling off track these days both with my blog and with life in general. This weekend I'm going to try and spend some time getting refocused. I'm not quite sure what that means or what exactly it is that I need but I'm going to try and figure that out soon. I'm making no sense. That's okay though...no one is reading this, it's too pretty outside.

Good Day

This story was on NPR and made me cry on the way to work this morning. I think my kids, kids are going to look back at this and think it's crazy that people were once denied this right.

Self-Portrait #115

Yeah, I'm one of those.

I tried to draw Ben but the van is so shaky it was difficult to get a
good likeness. We are on our way to Detroit for a Bad Veins show.
Yay Friday...the 13th.

Self-Portrait #108

This pretty much sums up my day. I thought I just a sore throat and
green snot but now my eyes are all itchy and my nose is all runny
today. Do I have allergies? I've never really had a problem
before. Ugh.

Self-Portrait #107

Sore throat still. I think work stress may be killing my immune
system. Tomorrow will be a great day. I've taken some nighttime cold
medicine and soon I will get a great night sleep, wake up happy and
ready to work. I'll have lots of great solutions for whatever problem
confronts me, I will get all of the paperwork done that everyone
needs, and I will clean my desk so I don't look like such a slob.
Until then I am in bed wallowing in self pity.

I blend in. I have a sore throat.

Saturday, June 7, 2008

Yay Saturday!

Today was a good day. We had the chance to sleep in, clean the house a bit, and work on some of our own projects. Then we went to see The Fall, mostly because I was really wanting popcorn but luckily it turned out to be a really good movie that made me cry big alligator tears. I recommend seeing it at a theater near you.

Now I'm spending a quiet evening at home. Ben is upstairs working music and I've been downstairs working on a mixed CD for my long lost friend Wendy who lives in NYC. I thought it would be fun to post the play list here and encourage you to seek out these artists yourself. This isn't really news to me but I really love music. I'm not quite sure what I would do without it, I've relied on it so much in my life. I've had fun looking through all of my Cd's and going though ALL of my itunes library to sum up some of my favorite songs from the last several years. Wendy and I sort of lost touch so I'm trying to make up for some missed music sharing. Here goes.
1. For Now - Shesus (i couldn't really find a solid link for this band...they are local and broke up a few years ago)
2. New York, I Love You But You're Bringing Me Down - LCD Soundsystem
3. New Resolution - The Heartless Bastards
4. Lola - The Raincoats
5. The Light - Mirah
6. The Lucky Ones - Viva Voce
7. Sweepstakes Prize- Mirah
8. Diana Ross -The Concretes
9. St. Apollonia - Beirut
10. Accused of Stealing - The Delgados
11. Abigail, Bell of Kilrona - The Magnetic Fields
12. 100 Knives - Mirah
13. Reminders of Then Everythings - The Moldy Peaches
14. Sentimental Heart -She & Him
15. Lonely Lonely - Feist
16. You Really Gotta Hold on Me - She & Him
17. Corrina, Corrina -Bob Dylan
18. It's a Wonderful Life - Sparklehorse
19. Go- Sparklehorse w/The Flaming Lips (daniel johnston cover)
20. Make Your Move - The Delgados
21. I Turn Around- Bad Veins (you probably won't find this one anywhere for now)
I also made this cozy CD holder. It's not quite square but hey...I tried okay. I've learned that when it comes to sewing I don't really have a plan when I start so that usually leads to issues. I'm also banking on the fact that I don't think Wendy reads my blog. Wendy, if you've started reading you'll receive your CD in 2-3 business days.

Finally Self-Portrait #105 went all wrong so I gave up on it. That's going to happen I guess so there you have it.

Ben is back and enjoying Wii fit. Poor thing is underweight. I'm
glad I don't have that problem. I swear this is a creative blog but
this is my busy time at work so my twelve hour work day hasn't left me
much creative energy. This may be a long boring summer for my blog
readers.

Wii Fit. It's awesome and a little too honest. During the set up it does a fitness test to tell you your BMI and tells you if you are overweight or not...I am. It then proceeds to give your Mii character a belly according to your body mass index. It's pretty funny yet humbling. I'm not totally convinced that this could get you into shape using the programs by themselves but it is a good way to build flexibility and balance while tracking your weight and exercise per day. It's also a lot of fun. For those of you dying to get a Wii Fit but you are having trouble finding it on the shelves, go to Walmart or Meijer on Sunday mornings.
