I made this discovery while taking a walk today. The car I pass daily and admire it's fun fruits and vegetables but today something was different. I'm not sure if it's a political statement or the driver just thought that was a good place to keep a gas can. I'm thinking political...but the message is still a bit unclear to me. Maybe my few blog readers will have some insight. I feel like I'm on a scavenger hunt when I walk through my neighborhood. I can never tell what I'll find each time.
One of my coworkers/friends is expecting a baby boy mid this month. I have another gift up my sleeves but I wanted to have a gift to give at the shower so I whipped up this onesie using one of my favorite Sublime Stitching patterns. I've used it a few times but it's so perfect for many occasions that I can't resist it when I'm combing over my pattern selection.
Here's a close up for your viewing pleasure. Then I had the opportunity to do one of my favorite things...make my own wrapping paper out of old magazines. We've gotten a good collection going on between our old copies of Real Simple which we canceled to try out Ready Made, Rolling Stone, and National Geographic. Here's how I do it:
1. Pick out a color pallete that works by combing through each page until I have a few good pages.
2. Then I lay the face down on the floor and tape them all together side by side until there is enough paper to cover the package.
3. Wrap it up!
4. Make a cute bow using strips from the leftover paper edges.
You should try it.It's fun and the environment will thank you.

Walks, Onesies, and Wrapping Paper
Self-Portrait # 37
Working on the computer and listening to some music...I think the Beatles in this particular photo. I love the ipod shuffle feature; now it's some really depressingly hopeful Hawksley Workman. I can't see the computer screen now because there is a cat between me and the screen. Oscar likes to do a few desperate laps begging for attention before settling on my lap. The Flaming Lips just came on.

I Don't Care
This picture will help illustrate why the children ate my soul this week. The assignment at this camp was to make a flag that represents you since we had spent all week learning about other countries, their flags, and their traditions. These two little girls made these flags about themselves. I can't stop laughing about it. They are in the 2nd grade, I hadn't reached the "I don't care" point until I was 16. The hearts are my favorite touch.

Self-Portrait #31 and Newly Completed Project

Cropping photos for this blog post. I like this picture because it has as little of me in it as possible while still having me in the frame.

This is three week old Emma Lee Davis, Ben's new niece. We are
spending the day at his grandma's house where there is an unlimited
amount of food.

IKEA!!! We finally have one about 15 minutes away for our house.
It's amazing and we are currently making plans to redo our kitchen and
bathroom.

The drive home from work. These cloudy, rainy days are sucking the
life out of me. It was 90 degrees in Austin!

Grocery store. I promise I will MAKE a self-portrait this weekend
since this is suppose to be a blog about things I make. The trip has
had my mind distracted and I'm trying to catch up and get back to
normal.

To make up for it I've decided to post an old self-portrait that I did as a series while I was in school. I thought it may be nice, for my five readers, to have a little background work too. I thought I only had two readers but I was mistaken...I think it's five maybe six on a good day.
I have added a few photos and comments to my posts from SXSW. Tomorrow I will do a final review and post some pics that I didn't get a chance to blog about.

I still need a lot more rest to get the bags to go away from
underneath my eyes. I had 100+ emails waiting for me at work this
morning. Yikes. Tomorrow I will add some photos to my previous posts
and do a little SXSW review. For now my cats need a little extra
attention.

This is me driving and listening to She and Him. Don't worry Ben is
behind the wheel now. I can just see my mom reading this thinking
that I'm typing and driving. Hi mom.
The temperature is dropping the further north we get. I guess I can
handle a few more weeks of sleeves after experiencing 92 degree
weather and a slight sunburn.

This is before my wrist liberation. We've had to keep these wrist
bands on for the last three days. I've sort of felt like an ear
marked hipster cattle being herded in and out of ultra hip handouts.
I will soon find my scissors and set my wrist free and be back to my
nerdy life.

The Last Show...
...until Wednesday at the Southgate House but at least then we will get
to sleep in our cozy gnome sheets. We are having one last free meal
and then we'll hit the road. Now we just have a long drive ahead of
us and another Motel 6 in our future.

Kill me
I'm standing in a sea of hipsters... I want to go back to the news
station. But I may see Lou Reed perform.

You must be as confused as I am. Today Bad Veins is playing on the
local NBC 12:00 news in Austin. This trip has just gotten strange.
I'm trying to get them to let me do the weather. Male news dudes wear a lot of makeup.
I was able to get a lot of close ups which are usually hard when they play live.

Bad Veins
The show at the Dirty Dog was good but the SXSW crew and sound guy
were assholes. They cut their thirty minute set short and the big
crowd was not happy. More to come later...so tired!

I must get some sleep soon or my eyes are going to pop out of my
face. We did finally make it to Austin a few hours ago. We are
currntly checking into another Motel 6 and then we are heading out for
a much deserved drink. I'm hoping to have some fun sights to report to
my two fans.

Keys Part Two
This is what happens when Sebastien doesn't know what he's doing...we
call a lock company who sends this guy. It looked easy in the video
he watched on the internet. It took this rebel hat wearing man two
seconds and 40 dollars to open the door. This Little Rock show will
go on. There was actually a tiny police department that appeared to
be closed in the parking lot that the van was in. During our two hour
struggle we saw no police officer come or go. As the lock man drove
off a giant police truck with a tool box in the bed pulled into the
lot. He probably would have popped the lock for free.
